I have never bought one on ebay but if I did I would just make sure I checked their feedback and would use PP to get the buyer protection. I don't have a new one but if your in a bind I will give you one of my old phones because I too am a dog lover and feel your pain.
Every time I read the threads about someone losing a dog it brings back the time our Dalmatian slipped out the front door past me. I turned to chase him and realized he wasn't going to stop so once he got to the street I ran for my car. I got out of the driveway and went after him but he made it the 200-300 yards up the road to the main street; when I put the car into drive and got about 50' and heard the horn. When I got to the top of the street there was a mini van coming to a stop that ran him over. I jumped out of the car and knelled down and held him as he tried to take in air and after about 20 seconds he was gone. Meanwhile the woman who hit him said "I saw him coming and I hit the horn but he never stopped" to which I replied "try the brakes next time the dog was deaf", she said she never heard of a deaf dog and kept rambling nonsense. I said "just go and don't let it wreck your day" as I scooped him up and put him on the front seat and brought him home. We always keep our dogs in the fenced in back yard and this was just my mistake because I took my eye off him after opening the door. Still chokes me up to this day and it's been 9yrs.

Ron, take a ziplock bag and fill it with white rice. Put phone in with rice, let sit overnight - this may save the phone. I resurrected one that got inundated at Narrow River when waders disintegrated.

Ronnie, I work for a company that develops and sells mobile apps for banks and CUs. We buy literally hundreds of phones on eBay because we need to make sure our software will run on all the phones. The only caveat is make sure the phone you buy can be activated on the network provider you use.

If some lady hit my dog and used that excuse she would be buried in the yard right next to my pup. I can't imagine going through that.

Very sorry reading that story about your dog.
I wonder if that knit wit would have had that same story/attitude if she ran over a kid ! For us dog owner/lovers it's just as bad !
