i've had a great sept, considering how much i've fished, but this year has been the worst big fish year for me. I can't complain, i've caught more 30lbs fish this year then i ever have in one single year, but breaking 40lbs has been impossible for me. this will be the first time in like 7 years i dont catch a 40lb fish loosing my touch. i have to weeks left........Talk about pressure.

I know what you mean. That's how 2009 was for me. Had 4 40's in '08, and at least 1 a year for the 3 years before that, and then couldn't top 33 all last season. Talk about a slump.

There's still time. I think the best shot at a very large is still ahead of us (or upon us now).

as said before, bite the bullet and throw snakes or riggies. I had one of my best night this season last night with big eels. And not one YED

Montauk has been OFF THE HOOK for the past three weeks. Bait all over, mullet and anchovies. Pods of bass making the water black when they aren't blitzing. You just have to work certain stages of the tide and you are in. Nothing bigger than high teen fish but there are a lot of them.
