The Mass. Division of Marine Fisheries may have an archive section or a place where they keep historical records. I know the DEM in RI has info like that. But you got to work to find it.

The info you seek is mostly held in the brains of fisherman. Find an old timer and ask him a few questions.

The info is very cyclical that's why you need a guy with years on the water. I interviewed a pogie seine captain, a guy who worked Narragansett Bay from the 50s till the 80s. I recorded the whole conversation. I guess it was an oral history. But I learned a lot.

Good luck.
