New Ice Shanty project
We picked this 1973 Empire up from my buddies neighbor for $400. Everything works as original. We are giving it a man town makeover. Here is the base coat for the camo paint job. She already looks 100% better. We have a few minor things to do on the inside but it will sleep 4 people comfy. It already has a taxi'd tuna mounted to the back We are looking for a taxi'd head of some sort to mount on the outside drivers side to scare the children on our long road trips. I'll post more pics as she comes together.

Nice work, good luck finding 4!
You might want to check this out for a mount: "We are looking for a taxi'd head of some sort to mount on the outside drivers side to scare the children on our long road trips."?
Amazon.com: Jackalope Buck: Sports & Outdoors
PS before pulling very far you might want to add some air to the tires.

That will work! I did a long weekend duckhunting out of one like that in Minnesota a couple years back. Had a turret window up top to sight incoming, and changed out windows opposite the entry door to allow two to three shooters. Left it next to a very remote pond/lake. Decoys and camo boat too. Hour trip on four wheelers.... Pics on another old dead computer You'll have some good times with it. Just check axle spindles etc.

Not too scary but it may work for the price. The tires are dry rotted and need to be replaced. Thanks though.

You should cut some access holes in the floor for inside fishing. A buddy of mine has 4 access holes in his ice shanty, works well on those really cold and windy days.
Also if you paint the interior white you won't need to much lighting, day or night.
Be careful on doing a really good job on the camo paint job, you might get hit by a snowmobile.

Wouldn't it suck to wake up to a moving swerving camper with no signs of Joe in it. We definitely need to hide his truck keys. At least when we can eat 3 hot meals a day without it turning to ice anymore.

That would be awesome but the dark greens and black cover imperfections pretty good. We should have some more paint done by the weekend. I'll post more pics.

New ceiling not in pics. More outside camo paint not in pics. New window and ceiling molding not in pics. New cabin interior lights not in pics. But these are a couple of pics to go along with the process. I'll update the interior this weekend once the floor, ceiling and window moldings are finished.

An idea of the inside look. I know the lights are not centered New cedar back wall behind the sink. The new lights were hung just to get the look but will be centered and hardwired in by this weekend.

Lookin good! You more than likely will be getting a call at some point this winter when my wife finally comes to her senses and kicks me out of the house and I need a place to crash for a few days.

Cool project.
At some point you should consider changing out that axle to get rid of the bud wheels. Or you might be able to have standard hubs welded on, then be able to have a standard trailer wheel. Those things were a nightmare years ago and now very few trailer parts stores carry stuff for that style.

I may have a fox mount that can be donated to the ice shanty. My grandfather had a ton of bear mounts and others that would have been perfect but most were donated to his hunting club. He had one black bear that was a full torso mount with arms outstretched
