Buying online is Amazing sometimes

Yesterday afternoon I placed two online orders for stuff . A bunch of Ink Cartridges from HP and a new wall mounting (tilting etc) bracket for a flat screen TV.

I got both delivered today by 2:30PM and I paid zero for shipping on both. I also got $19 off the price of the cartridges from HP and I got $36 off the price of the wall mount bracket from Newegg.

Now obviously the discounts come and go but the overnight delivery for free is becoming a common thing. The bracket delivery was supposed to be a free 2 day delivery but it was here overnight. Yes its more prevalent around the Holidays and especial this Black Friday Weekend.

Thats all I do. But I set up my shopping cart and then call customer service and order over the phone. You get the same price but don't have to input your cc# over the internet. I ordered the camo material for the trailer late in the day last Thursday and it was on my door step Friday at 9:15 am.

i really don't think you have to be paranoid about your cc# over the net. At least from legit retailers. Maybe porn & gambling are different.

I have probably spent well over $100K on the internet without any bad experiences at all. If you include air tickets make that an easy $250K.

Thank god for online shopping. If I never go xmas shopping at a mall again I will die happy.

Two things:
1) I use my CC online for all my purchases. If I'm purchasing from any vendor I don't 100% trust, I can receive a temporary CC# from my bank (Bank of America) and use that without worry. You can also set a maximum limit, so my purchase is going to be say $125 and I set the temp limit to $135.

2) CC#s are often stolen by keyloggers that are *installed on your own computer*. There are so many different ways keyloggers are getting on our computers now and it takes a combination of protection methods to protect against them. I suggest Kaspersky as a primary defense.

So its faster and safer to call. Most people are like me and have no clue wtf a keylogger is. Anything on a computer can be hacked. I'm not a paranoid freak about it or anything. I have used it online in the past with 0 problems. But like you said a keylogger can steal my cc# and I have no clue what one is and if I have one. Another thing is not understanding or trusting defense programs installed or wanting to install. They say your protected but then your computer crashes anyway.

Get a friend to set you up. It's a good thing to do. and you can't have enough protection. the internet is like the wild west, if you go online you need protection. and you need lots more stuff to make sure there's not somebody walking you disks.

I have been by at least a few different pro's in the last 7 years or so, personal and business and they all told me I was all set. It seems like I'm protected, but a week or 2 later I'm not. I hate computers

Often it's UPS that deserves the kudos.

People think we work some sort of magic with shipping but all we do is ship same day for most orders and set up a late pick up so we can ship orders even late in the day.

UPS works the real magic, getting the packages from us that evening to all of New England, NY, and most of NJ and even further the very next day.

"Ground" shipping from us to anywhere in that range is almost guaranteed overnight.

Order computer from Amazon, ships from 3rd party, at my door <48hrs later, and an hour later comes the e-mail: "your package has been shipped".

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.
