Last Cast for The Fisherman, Mid-Atlantic Edition

I just learned that The Fisherman, Mid-Atlantic Edition only has one more issue and then that's it.

What's up? Is print based fishing magazines becoming extinct?

I read several blogs and on-line fishing magazines. But, I am still old school: I like to pick up a magazine and book and just read it. Do you prefer pint based fishing magazines or on-line fishing magazines?

Interesting. The New England Edition was hiring for a new editor as well recently.

Dave ??

Being an obvious supporter for online, I really like print.

I refuse to bring a computer into the bathroom.

If the article is really good I'll bring my laptop into the john. I have a small mac and the weight isn't too great balanced on my bare thighs.

If I could get it online and searchable for all issues, I probably could get a better homeowners insurance rate, I have every issue since 1977.

I also bought a house with the fire hydrant in the fire hydrant in the front yard, just in case my paper hoard caught fire, before my BLO rag pile.

Wow. That's cool. I keep all my issues too. I hear you on searching! The biggest down side to print is the inability to search.

Aside: Don't get me started on insurance companies. ;-).

Price of printing has gone through the roof. Many smaller magazines are going out of business or cutting back their publishing schedule.

Printing has gone up, advertising has gone up and the results from printed magazines for retailers has fallen. I like reading the printed stuff myself, but it seems like they are quickly being fazed out.

I know many businesses that are starting to go over to the internet with much better results. 2 years ago, somebody ran an ad for Gulp! - $1.99 pk. in a very popular magazine for 4 weeks......no website, no store name...just a phone number. At the end of 4 weeks, they got 2 phone calls. It was an experiment that pretty much proved that these new online magazines are much more popular. I know theres a big crowd out there that cant get to the online mags, but they are the minority now. Does not seem right, but it is.
