If you had viewed the video of his hearing you would understand that he difinetly corned the parole board with his mister nice guy, redeemed himself from crime and was very, very sorry for the harm he had done. After listening to him you would have taken out a hankerchief and wiped your eyes.

This guy should never had been let out. Martha Stewart had to serve her full time and she is not a criminal.

I travel for work 40-60 days/year. I think last year had me to 7 or 8 states for work (about half in the South or Mid-West) and another 3 for pleasure - not counting New England states. My job has me working with people that cover almost every demographic in the country from Russian Jewish activists supporting Israel to high profile political figures from both parties to the poorest of the poor to Gay Republican Organizations to professional athletes.

One fun part about my job is that I can't have a "Comfort Zone." One day I could be producing an event where Bill Bellichick is the guest speaker and a few days later I'm producing a fundraiser event for wounded veterans.

I'll be the first to say that I don't have nearly the life experiences as most on this forum, but one thing I do have is perspective. I've been fortunate to be forced outside of my little box of comfort regularly.

Every single person on this forum is guilty of being prejudice. I've traveled, I've bumped elbows, I've shared beers with many of people from the region... and I stand by what I said.

Johnny D, despite your own individual observations, things are not as simple as they may seem to you. My experience with folks from different parts of the country has been mostly (not completely) from my time with the USMC. Despite your observations, not everyone in middle America watches "Hee Haw" reruns while blowing into an empty whisky jug for music, and lusting after their sister Ellie Mae.

If I was going to stereotype those folks, I'd say they were very religious, very charitable, unbelievably friendly and warm compared to New Englanders, hard-working, responsible folk who want to live their lives and raise their kids without the feds telling them how to do it.

Johnny, since you seem to think (I may be wrong) that all of the sophisticated intellectuals live on the coasts...try this sometime. Look at a map of the US that shows the per-capita budget deficits of all 50 states. Tell me what kind of financial shape New England and California are in, compared to the Midwest and Southern states. Then ask yourself where the dummies are.

People in the heartland may not be comfortable talking about existentialism while drinking apple martinis, but they love their neighbors, love their kids, and they know you can't spend what you ain't got. They may not have enough book lernin' to earn the respect of liberal elitists, but they understand how things work in the real world.

Let me explain my comment to you since you're, shall we say, a bit slow?

You need adderall because you can't stick to a subject. Re-read your posts and your obsession with bringing Obama and politics into discussions that have no political relevance.

This WAS a discussion on a parolee who shot a cop.
Why did the parole board let him go? No clue. Someone said he was a great con man and the parole board was conned. Bigtime.
Could anyone have fallen for it? Probably.
Was the DA from his case there? Nope.
Were the families of his victims there? Nope.
Were you there? (since the hearings are public) Nope.

What does this have to do with liberals or conservatives? Nothing.
What does this have to do with Obama? Nothing.
What do you add to discussions? Nothing.

Now, be a good little boy and learn how to take part in discussions in a thoughtful and informative and/or educated manner.

Most of them are in California. Unfortunately, however, there aren't nearly enough of them in California to keep that state out of debilitating debt. That crushing debt is thanks to liberal spending policies, and a liberal approach to illegal immigration, by the way...

Likwid, do you EVER get one right, even by accident? The fact is that California has all those tech companies, and Connecticut has so many billionaire hedge fund managers and the most profitable casinos in the world, yet the liberal policies have STILL managed to bankrupt those states. New England and California have tons of smart people, and therefore, tons of tax revenue. But here's the moral of the story...earth to likwid...whether you have a little money or a lot of money, you can't spend more than you've got. Liberals simply don't buy into that rule.

You unwittingly proved my point for me. If New England and California have all this revenue from sophisticated industry, and we're STILL going bankrupt, that makes us even more incompetent compared to the folks running states in Middle America. Those states figure out a way to get by with what they have, we tax ourselves into oblivion.

Likwid, since you know where all the technology centers are, why not go to one and buy a $5 calculator. Then maybe you can show me how "1" represents "most" of 7.

Game. Set. Match.

seething arrogance....nice....K?...I've read your posts, I wouldn't get to giddy about your thought, information or education and I would say that based on what you accuse me of you are indeed a hypocrit

Most? Not quite there chief!
Pittsburg, Pennsylvania
Boston, Massachusetts
Burlington, Massachusetts
New York, New York

Can you tell me whats in these four cities? It shouldn't be hard to figure out. You can come up to 2010 instead of hanging out in 2000. Its ok, the present doesn't bite

Thankfully in the real world, yes, not in silly bastard Jim In CT liberalism is a disease land though. I'm OK with that.

No wonder most people don't waste their time replying to you anymore.

I know exactly what's in those 4 cities. Lots of sophisticated folk like yourself. Also, liberal legislatures, astronomical taxes, and crippling budget deficits.

You really walked right into that one...

Oh, so you're still an expert on the concept of "most", I see (remember before, when you claimed that one out of seven is "most"). Maybe you should look it up in the dictionary, I don't think it means what you think it means...

ahhhh...this is how it always ends..."I'm right and you are wrong even though I can't provide a shread of credible evidence to back up my assertions"..."you insulted me...after I insulted you"(which doesn't count)......"I speak for everyone and "we're" not talking to you anymore"....stomp, stomp...stick out tongue........worse than little children....

maybe you guys can not make things personal and discuss it or the thread will end up locked????

It's a shame a good man is dead because he was allowed a parole hearing in the first place. Doesn't seem like we learn from the past

Amen, and God help us.

May God's love guide us all into a wonderful new year in 2011. I was hoping to weasel my way into some fishing outings with some of you this year, but baby #3 is due June 1, at which point we'll have a 4 year old, an 18 month old, and a newborn, and very little free time!

I hope all here (regardless of political beliefs!) are as joyously excited about a wonderful 2011 as I am.

God Bless!
