Happy New Year
Got some great news yesterday heading into 2011.About six weeks ago a lump was detected on my wife during a routine mammogram.Biopsy results proved our worst fear,my wife and mother of our three children had cancer. We started at Beth Israel and had another opinion at Dana Farber until finally deciding to use Mass General and their awesome team of doctors. They were so helpful, even offering advice on how to tell the children who are 13,11,and 6 years old.She underwent a procedure two weeks ago to remove the disease and check her lymph nodes. It has been a busy holiday season full of distractions, and the news of Elizabeth Edward passing went unmentioned in my house. The surgeon called yesterday and told my wife the margins were clear and the lymph nodes tested negative ,which couldn't have been better news.
We have a long road of chemo and radiation ahead of us,but now we have hope and renewed strength to fight this cruel disease.I'm not one to air my laundry on line ,but I will urge everyone to make sure your loved ones get their mammograms. My wife is a healthy 42 year old. Never smoked, has maybe a drink a month. It can happen to anyone I guess. Enjoy what you have.

Chris, thoughts and prayers for a Godspeed like recovery for your wife.
I am grateful to hear that the prognosis, so far, is much better than what could have been.
I hope you and your family has a strong and healthy 2011.

Best wishes to you and your family. The prognosis sounds good. I believe that the love you have for each other will be as important as the chemo.

Take care Chris, I've been down this road with my family, and its a challenging time but one that with today's medical capability has an extremely high success rate compared to 30 years ago when we first encountered it.

Wow, glad to hear the results were good news. That is stressful on all of the family going though that I'm sure. Take care Chris and you are right, it can happen to anyone(even men). I wish her my best.
