I think Obama's speech will be pretty predictable, they usually are...
Transition from economic stabilization to growth policy. Tout the legislative achievements and the fact that we have been seeing modest growth and corporate earnings are looking up. Pledge to work with the new House on deficit reduction, but not at the expense of progress...etc...etc...etc...
What will be interesting is the line up of GOP responses, especially since they're starting to stage for the 2012 nomination. I fully expect Bachmann to be in rare form
Hey Buck, you're not related are you

I think your spot on about Obama. Alot of blame
for others and made up credit based on no accomplishments for himself.
What will be predictable, will be your response to the GOP.

Some of the Supreme Court Justices may not attend, if so I'm sure that it may only be the conservative judges.

Spence pretty much nailed it. Somehow, Obama is going to find a way to appease the left by spending on making the US self sufficient with energy, yet he is also going to reduce spending to appease the right.
This was nothing more than a campaign speech for 2012. Although, Obama may want to reconsider who he has writing speeches for him. Did anyone else notice that he quoted the title of one of Gingrich's books (Winning the Future) as a theme for the evening.

Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about empowering people to catch up, to give them tools at their disposal that make it possible for them to access all the hope, all the promise, all the opportunity that America offers. - Marco Rubio

Also Wednesday, as part of the follow-up to the State of the Union speech, Vice President Joe Biden went to Indiana to tour Ener1 Inc., which makes batteries for electric vehicles and received a $118.5 million Recovery Act grant in 2009. Other members of Obama's Cabinet went to destinations in Missouri and South Carolina.
"Members of the Cabinet will travel throughout the country to highlight the pillars of the president's remarks, visiting companies and schools that are already engaged in cutting-edge ways to innovate and accelerate economic growth," a White House statement said.
"This week and throughout February, the Cabinet will discuss ways to win the future through investments in innovative technologies and research, strengthened educational opportunities, and cutting-edge approaches to manufacturing and modern infrastructure."
maybe I have too much faith in capitilism, but if any of these ideas were good ones, venture capital would be flooding in to fund them. I was in California in the late 90s and we had 70% turnover in my company beacuse everyone was leaving to join dot-coms. That was all driven by investment $$$ from people looking for the next big thing. That money is still out there and people are always looking for the next big thing. I really doubt that Obama admin could stimulate growth in innovation. Sounds nice, but not realistic.
