Superbowl - Likes / Dislikes / commercials / etc
Started this in the "One should know the national anthem" thread
Superbowl Gripes and likes;
Was surprised to see Bono in one of the clips about being American. To the best of my recollection he is merely critical of Americans while making huge coin off of them, and not a US citizen (regardless of the fact that he had the best 1/2 time show evah because the Pats won ).
Commercials: Averaged a great than normal stink factor - not much funny.
VW/Vader commercial AWESOME

Dislike; NE Patriots weren't in it and they should have/could have been there.
Soooooooo...........I didn't watch the game yesterday. Yes, I'm a sore looser.

Game was totally unexciting to me. Even when it was close there just didn't seem to be an exciting air about it. I guess that's what happens when whoever wins is something you care nothing about.
The half time show sucked except for the people in the lighted suits. I liked that. The sound mixing of the Black Eyed Peas was so poor it was embarrasing. The background music was not mixed in at all. I'm not a big fan of theirs anyway but if they had some music instead of the totally bare vocals it might have been at least OK.
We had so much going on where I watched it and so little interest in the games I missed 3/4 of the commercials. I did think the Coke drinking dragon was well done although not all that funny. I also liked the Darth Vader kid.

They are almost always terrible live, good mix or not, whether you are a fan of their music or not.
I don't know that I've ever seen a band/group carry so little of what makes their music popular to the stage. They come out and look and sound like they just woke up almost every time. Which is impressive considering most of the music is just on playback. They do try and sing live though, so I guess you have to give them credit for that...
Enjoyed the VW ads, and one of those Doritos ads was a little weird.

Let's see.....
After the National anthem butcher by C. Aguilera, the mediocre (at best) halftime show, which included a political message and a stage light malfuction (the song lyrics were changed to give an Obama shout-out and half of the letter "V" in LOVE didn't work.) it was slightly better than watching Animal Planet's "Puppy Bowl and Kitty Half-Time Show".
Most of the commercials were lame, with only a few decent ones.
Those idiotic 'Go-Daddy" ones are a real waste of time and money.
The best was the "VW: Darth Vadar" one
As for the game, it's always encouraging to see such a fine example of a human being literally "throw" he game away.
How many times did Pittsburgh turn the ball over compared to Green Bay? How many calls did the officials get wrong this time?
Oh, and how many fans got screwed by the NFL and the Dallas stadium seating geniuses? $900.00 for a seat to nowhere? I don't think so, anbd I don't think Dallas will be hosting the game for quite a while because of the piss-poor job they did with the whole show.
Maybe the snow on the roof indicent should have been a warning!

I Liked the Monkey Commercial....can never go wrong w/ monkeys. Missed the VW ad....have to look it up and check it out.
Game was slow and sloppy. Half-time show was lame. No Cheerleaders. National Anthem botched....not a classic by a long shot....Maybe Big Ben should have spent less time clubbing and more time prepping for the game.
Beer was cold though and the food was good.

The commericals were pretty lame.
Was funny to see Roseanne get smacked with the giant log in the snickers commercial, could never stand her.
The black eye peas at one time about 15 years ago were a good group. A lot of there music was used in skateboard and snowboard videos, this was before they got that troll fergie and sold out more than other band ever.
That half time show was just awful.
Most hip hop/popular music is awful live.
The game was ok, like stated before they didn't seem to be that excited.
I worked on plugs and sanded weight holes down during the game so at least it was productive.

I really liked the tire ad with the beaver paying the guy back for sparing him. So that was nice of the beaver.
Was that Cowboys vs. Aliens preview a joke? That can't be a movie can it?

Funnies
The monkeys in parking lot.
The couple at the table where the girl had endless thoughts and the guys only thoughts were "I want to sleep with her" .
licking the Dorito dust of the guys finger was funny, taking the next guys pants off for dorito dust was ovekill.
**Bring Back Terry Tate**
Good
I liked the Chrysler "imported from Detroit" , not a funny commercial but good.

I watched a total of probably 1/2 of the game, including the butchering of the national anthem.
Watched reruns of Deadliest Catch.
Was in bed sleeping by 9pm
