Starting a new job in a couple weeks I will be choosing my fishing opportunities carefully! I will be fishing the canal under cover of darkness more than in years past and weekends for the most part will be reserved for kayak fishing!! (Hoo-Rah "Yak Rats") I dream of finally making it to Montauk this season.....steeped in history and tradition I have wanted to fish there for some time now, hopefully this is the season! My goals are to land the elusive 40 plus pounder both from the surf and from the kayak! I also hope to see Fishchick catch her first of many keepers from her kayak! Mostly just looking to enjoy great fishing memories with so many friends!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

I purchased a boat this year so hopefully get out in that a few times. Also hit the canal a bunch and fish with some folks I have met on the board. Specifically I would like to be more scientific/calculated in my fishing and really fish a few areas in the canal on all different tides with different approaches and try to figure out some patterns. Finally my son will be three so hopefully take him for some bluegills a couple times.

I want to work on my casting- master the pendulum cast for the days when distance is required, and improve my accuracy on touch casts. Work on the fundamentals.

I also want to get back into the sweetwater more, and re-learn how to fly fish.

as a goof I'm Looking to catch as many different species as possible this year....up to 9 so far for 2011 ....don't have to be targeting them...just want to see how many different ones I catch

Want to hook a 30 lb'er in the Yak and go for a sleigh ride. Also looking to bring the yak to Cutty this year.

Flounder fishing from the yak, Shad Fishing is on the list too.

Want to catch a 20 lb. Carp also.

Want to get to a minimum of 4 Yak-Rat Scrambles this year

I'm looking forward to more Yak Rat Scrambles, fishing for stripers with my son, getting out on the boat a lot more with my dad, fishing more with my dad in general, fishing with more members from this site, learning more and just enjoying my time doing it. I don't like setting goals for numbers or sizes of fish, but hopefully I'll catch and release my share this season. I think this is the most I've looked forward to fishing season in a long time.

Due to engine issues I was not able to get out on the boat for almost a month and a half. I am sure that will change this year!!

I want to fish the Elizabeth Islands and hope that they are filled with more fish than last year.

This is also the year that I would like to boat my first BFT, hooked up three times now in the past two years. This is the year!!!
