South Shore RI

Thought this picture might get the juices flowing a bit. Just a tease of what one could expect from the south shore or RI.

Don Territo caught this 54.20 pound beauty at Watch Hill Sunday.

I still can't get my wife to understand why we get up in the middle of the night to fish for Stripers if we're just planning on putting them back.

The possibility of a 54.20 pound fish makes it clear to me......

We were a bit busy when the fish was weighed. He did not really say, but I beleive it was a shore fish.

YOW - nice fish!! Whaddya mean you were too busy? You make time for that one :P. I GOTS to get me one of them...

FYI - to all of you that don't spend excessive amounts of time in SW Rhody. Whenever a big bass comes out of a secret lil' hole - they are always said to come out of Watch Hill :P . Don't get me wrong, MANY monster bass have come out of their over the years. Thats what makes it such a great cover story, hehehehe...

That brings back some good memories, because the last one over 50 I slipped back into the water without the benefit of a picture. About that size maybe a lb or two larger, but I remember it bottoming out my 50lb scale in a heartbeat and it was longer then my old Tracker was wide. I'll never forget the look on the face of a guy that idled over to watch the final minute of the battle, when I weighed it with the help of my friend (hard to weigh one that big) and slipped it back into the water. He was dumb-founded and couldn't believe anyone would do that. I think I converted one to CPR that day.

Great shot, beautiful fish, man I can only hope! I have to say that friend Pete might have just had one like that on this past weekend. I'm fishing hard this coming weekend, stocking up on eels in the next couple days and maybe....just maybe. John your pumped up now aren't you...lol.

You betcha!! I have not landed those but I have had battles from shore with her - ones that your jaw drops, your chest is pounding, your mind is quickly reviewing various scenarios that will help you BATTLE this fish. Then the line parts...

I was wondering if someone would bite :P - Don says the fish was 54 but the scale is reading "68.9" as the fellow is pulling down on it in the shot. Again the fish was a teeny 54 POUNDS (man, I need one of them ;D )
