Underwater Herring Pics
Hit a local run late on sunday after work and hopped in and snapped some under water pics.
Was nice to see so many fish!
All the runs Ive checked in RI are very full, which is a great sign.

Yeah mid day around 4 pm. Bright light, water was crystal clear.

Heres three more.
all the fish were pretty big, 9 to 12". Only saw 3 dead ones for the few thousand I saw, pretty good ratio.
Im hitting another one tomorrow if I have time early before work, want to shoot some video.

So that's where the "Ghost" color/design came from to put on plugs, interesting! I've only seen mature herring once in my life (hooked by accident thinking it was a bluefish blitz one night off a diamond jig) and they weren't that color at all.

The runs seem to be hit or miss, one day there loaded and two days later there empty then two days later there packed again.
Those fish were mostly 12" silver with some bright pink and blue pearls.
Beautiful fish, but really easy to catch, i could have filled a bucket with my hands.
