Don't put it off
The colonoscopy, that is. It's not a big deal. Two years ago at 50 I made excuses. A year ago I felt my general health, appetite and energy start tanking. I thought it would pass. Three weeks ago I finally went to my doctor, who referred me for a colonoscopy, which determined I had a cancerous tumor on my colon. I've lost 28 pounds and am on a liquid diet, but I'm fortunate (at this point) the prognosis is good. Scans and tests show it hasn't spread to other organs and very operable, with surgery next week at a top notch place in NJ and probably chemo after and we're keeping positive and hopeful I will resume a normal life again. So that's my story, please don't let it be yours. Git 'er done. This is no fun.

Good luck with the surgery and great reminder to all, over 50. I had my colon scoped just last Monday.

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

Wish you all the luck in the world Jimbo!
Have a few years to go but I've been told, dignity aside, it ain't as bad as one thinks and the peace of mind is worth it.

I hope everything works out fine , stay strong !
And as Tattoo Bob said , you don't have to be 50 , the test was nothing and can save your life.

Yup, I got mine at 40 because of a family history. Good thing too cuz they found something small and nipped it in the bud!
