My Turn!!
I now join the ranks of the Unemployed!! Part of the over payed crowed. We were asked to go Salary a little while back and we voted no. As they abuse this alot here. You got to work 45 hours a week with a ever changing sche. and they can change your location when ever they want. This would also be a decrease in wages.O well I guess I will have to fish more!!

MJ - very sorry to hear that - I know too well.
You know what's been bugging me? After 2 years of people getting laid off, why does it seem like a lot more lately now tha the economy is starting a slight up turn?

I'd like to blame it all on ultra cheap labor (ie: H1-B's)
But its probably because companies still aren't hiring...
sigh..

MJ, Sorry to here that. Welcome to the Fraternal Order of the Unemployed Fishermen. As JohnR says, Dr Summeroff aint too bad. I guess you and I will have more chances of hooking up for a little fishing now.
How long were you employed there? I was with my company for 14 years and really thought I was set until retirement!
Oh well, we'll get together sometime and swap stories, fish, etc.

Sorry to hear that but what better time for it to happen.
I was part of closing a company I worked for 4 years ago. I closed the door in mid April and spent 4 days a week on the water for the rest of the summer.
Make the best of it - if you want help looking for a job PM me, I have clients in all kinds of industries.

Thanks all!! I was there 6 years. I am hoping that the unemployment checks and my fishing will get me thur the summer?? Then I will start looking for something. I want to stay on the graveyard shift as I have been on it for some 22 years now. This is a plus as there are not many people suited for these hours. I have people looking and If something was to come up by the end of the summer I will take it.
But as you all said what better time for this to happen.
BigBo I will be out there every day weather permiting!! July 6th starts Bass season and I am already doing the Fluke. So let me no when you want another leasson I mean want to hook up.

Capesams, I just went to the DMF site and this is what it says:
The 2002 commercial quota for striped bass in Massachusetts was 802,000 pounds. The quota is expected to increase for 2003.
The 2002 commercial striped bass fishery closed on August 8, 2002. The 2003 fishery is scheduled to open on July 6, 2003.

322 cmr6.o7 is amened by inserting the following language:
after may 1, 2003, any person issued a new sb fishing endorsement on a new or existing commercial fisherman's permitt will not be assured of access to or participation in these fisheries if a management regime is implemented that limits the number of participants in this fishery.
322 cmr 6.07 establishes a commercial fishing season that begins on july 3 and closes upon reaching the catch quota.
this is what I was handed by a fisheries person that is in our fishing club, it was faxed to him, I will be seeing him tue or wed. nite, and will ask him if anything has changed as of late ,,will keep you posted.
