I don't recall the particulars but my GFather supposedly had an office on Main St in some town that the Worcester tornado took the front off with him at a desk. Will need to ask mahh.

I was down the Canal when the Springfield twister hit. Wife was in Rutland at home with the kids and dog in the cellar. She said the sky was eerily green and the lightning was horrific. I felt a little guilty but catching fish took my mind off it
Hoping this Thursday doesn't show a repeat. Going to be hot with storms in the afternoon....again

It does not appear that conditions are favorable for violent weather in the near term. The cold front coming in Friday is not enough of a temperature gradient to cause significant warm air advection and shear conducive to tornado outbreaks.
Worst case is high winds and hail.
The 5 significant outbreaks for tornado's this year have had very different conditions than the summer time swelter we are moving into now.

That 2nd pic of the old armory was taken from the lot of the Red Rose correct? It was and still is my favorite pizza. Was their building damaged?

the second is what's left of the South End COmmunity Center.
Third is a shot of what just about every street in the south end of Springfield looked like.
All these pictures were taken between 4:30 - 4:45 on Wednesday - then I got out of Dodge and let the professionals do their job

You got it Marsh !
The Red Rose lost part of its roof - but I heard they are back in business - they even made and delivered a boatload of pizza's to one of the evacuation sites over the weekend.
I have stayed away from downtown since lat week - it is hectic as you can imagine.
Slowly things will come back to normal - I just heard a friend of mine lost his house by Springfield College

I finally grabbed a few better shots of it. It still doesnt compare to when you see it in person. One thing that i notice in the area of it is the smell. Its an awesome smell. It just smells green, can really explain it. These shots were taken on Old Sturbridge Village property. They have a road that goes thru their property, it was closed until this tuesday.

Rob - I described it like the smell of fresh cut wood - which is pretty much what happened
