Was it a red drum or a black drum? Black drum are not uncommon in our waters, several are caught every year off Montauk. Spanish Macks are also not uncommon.

Thing probably ruined him.. You'd have to catch an 80lb bass to pull as hard as that bull! Congrats.. Truly awesome catch no matter where you are.
