That sounds like a great idea and a good way to get people together.

I'm in too, but we'll all have to listen to Tyler complain about catching small fish. He's been spoiled.

Just tell him catching small fish is a great way to obtain live bait for the bigger fish. You can never have too many skills when it comes to fishing.
Great idea Niko!

I will try to do this. My 4 yr old will love it, just going to be tough leaving his 2 1/2 yr old sidekick behind. He worships his older brother.

What are some possible kid friendly locations? RI / Mass line area? Newport to Buzzards Bay?

If we do an easy beachy spot you can bring him. He can hang with Trent.

Easy beachy is fine as long as it is a fishy spot. Nothing worse than taking a bunch of kids fishing and not catching - thats why I was thinking scup

mattapoisett has plenty scup on two peirs and snapper blues. Sometimes blue fish and sand sharks are common

I'm definitely in. How about Ned's Point in Mattapoisett? Not sure if it's resident only - lived there as a kid and spent every summer day possible on the peirs. Filled a 5 gallon bucket with scup and forgot to tell mom that I put it in the basement.

We're in!! Jake would love it, as we fish daily (fresh water) but he wants to go scupping. Tons of scup in the Taunton River, mostly boat spot though. Any week end in Aug is fine.

Ned's point is a good place for a gathering and short drive to the piers.

the piers in mattapoisett seem to be the winner. i'm not familiar w/ the spot so someone answer a few questions. plenty of parking? access to bathrooms? just in case. do the piers have railings or are they more like comm piers? we should probably give the harbormaster a call and just clue him in that we are invading the pier

Parking on the piers are supposedly for residents only w/ sticker. If it's a busy weekend they get a bit snitty. But there is plenty of street parking. There are restrooms at the Harbormasters shack, no railings . No sticker needed for Ned's point and there are picnic tables and such. Buzzards Bay Anglers Club holds their Scup Cup on the pier every year. We are trying to do it again in Sept this year - watch for it in club announcements.

Very generious of you Ronnie. See everyone - the grinch does have a heart. I would love to get Dominic out w/ you sometime. Can we set something up for next month or do you think you'll be too busy w/ charters then. Maybe we can recruit another boat or 2

Looks like my son and I are in. Gonna be tough getting him out the door that early, but he's excited so he might get his butt in gear. I've never fished that spot, but my dad used to own a property on Water St. and I'd sometimes see people fishing from tyhe piers.

Thanks for putting this together Niko and Liv2fish!
