Unhappy Is It Just Me, Or Is The Fishing Slow?

Is anybody catching fish anywhere? Man, it just seems like the past couple weeks the fish are just not around. All my usual spots are dead. Is anybody else experiencing the same feeling?

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

As I see it most anglers I know are complaining about slow fishing. I also see larger fish coming in on a regular from both boat and shore than in any of the previous six years.

I really think we have all gotten spooiled by the way the season progresses. Schoolies arrive and there are a ton of them, then the herring and macs make it relatively less difficult to catch a decent fish or 20.

Now that the herring and macs have moved on the fishing is becoming work again. this is what is causing the complaints in my opinion.

The fish are here and there and require a decent amount of work to locate. Seems pretty normal for the first week in July.

"It is impossible to complain and to achieve at the same time"--Basic Patrick (on a good day)

Yup,
Me and Rappin mikey hit all the usual spots this weekend very long and hard. I went two strait days with the skunk on...Last day we did ok, but they were very small.
Can't wait to get up to Rockport to try some real fishing.
I felt better when I found out how everybody else out there was doing this weekend. (besides Slip!)
Later,
Rick

There is so much bait around.. They are fairly well fed and happy...

We were in the middle of a blitz of fish this morning for about an HOUR..... but they were mowing on sand eels... so we only caught a few...

Happy.. well fed fishies...

slowed down...maybe just a little. the bass bite anyways. seem to be getting more swirls and short hits on plugs than connecting. when chunking the bluefish are tearing up bait as it settles to the bottom, mostly 1-3 pounders and sure are keeping me busy when i'm running two poles. burn thru alot of bait too

Hey Big Fish,
It must be you. Team Sea Monkey has had no problem catchinh fish. The thing is you have to fish a little harder the normal.

I went to the Back River yesterday and caught no fish, but a bite and a bump. I hit it after the high tide like 3 PM. I used sea clams and tsumani plastic jigs. Another time, men, but I am going to Rockport tomorrow.

Fished Barnstable flats today, low slack incoming was absolutely on FIRE with fish, high point of the day was my 8 year old sticking a 9 lb fish by himself and bringing to the boat. Life is good
Sluggos ruled today with bazillions of sand-eels present.

Fished around where #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& was the next day. Saw lots of surface action but concentrated on large. Got only two but one was 45" and 36 lbs! Surprised that very few boats were in the area but today with commercial season starting it will be packed. Saw a few other nice ones caught the charters reported a slow day but had a 41 lber the day before. My bass was full of sea lice and this is around the time the large moved in here last year. I'll be back!
