All those poor people who just went to work that day, awful.
The first responders on 9/11/01 showed the greatest bravery I've ever seen.

Good friend of mine (who came by yesterday) a retired school teacher in 2001 was booked on a flight out on 9/11 to California with another friend to ride their Harleys up the Cali coast for 2 weeks! A third friend wanted to go along but they had already booked their plane and could not get him on their flight....so they changed flights. They had originally been scheduled to fly on American Airlines Flight 11 that fateful morning. Call it destiny, call it chance, call it what you will......that small change in their travel plans saved their lives for sure. It was great to see him yesterday as opposed to seeing his picture on the photo roll calls this morning or hearing his name read.

I thought my mom, who is a flight attendant for United was on one of the planes for about 2 days. I talked to her the day before and she said she had a cross country trip the next day. I was in the CG, on a 2 day port of call in Cabo. Had to double time back to ship and get underway when it happened. It took 2 days of trying to get through with the Sat phone to see if she was ok. Longest 2 days of my life. RIP to all those lost. I think about it all the time. We must not get complacent or those SOB's will strike again. |

Mike, I agree. Just watch the new Budwiser commercial where the 8 Clydsdals bow their heads to the NYC skyline and Lady Liberty. Brought tears to this old vets eyes.
