B carefull of the top profile in the article..the head section is to narrow...I've had the reeel deal an blanks in my hands and know their wider,plus there's no need to drill all the way through like that on the lead hole.Much easier ways to deal with the shapeing and lead...tools of "old"
will get those plugs made in no time.

What wood were the originals made from... the article said pine and the recent video posted by Surfcasters Journal interviewing Willy Young (W-Y Popper fame) said jack made them in oak!

dense old growth pine which is no long around unless your lucky enough to fine some in an old door or window sill.Orange in color,very tight growth rings,little on the hard side an can be abit spappy at times.

That little guy's been retired for a long time now..old lady had her kid an that was that....legs being a reel pain now the cool weathers coming on...doc said maybe 2 years before shes back kickin butt...an feelin frisky again.. failed to clue me in on that one..works boomin ...

here are a few pics of a Frech Banana I made over the past week... sealed basswood 2x with 2 ton devco and finished with white and pearl top coat... will coat with epoxy with some small sparkles once the paint cures over the weekend...

floats with 6x 4/0s with top flat surface slightly proud of W/L
