Poison Ivy brush killer

I was told to use brush killer to kill poison ivy. If you use a brush killer herbecide to kill poison ivy , will it kill the trees in the same area?

Whats the best way to get rid of poison ivy. Best being easy and permanent

best way is to smother it out IMHO

i sprayed round up poison ivy killer- spent $60+
last year 3 consequtive times which is
a systemic (kills the roots) and it all grew back.

so get some 6 mil black plastic then anchor it
with sod...DG...fill ...bricks what ever you have available

i realize that this method may not work because of
how and where it's growing...

if it's growing up a tree cut the VINES
because the blue berries it grows get distributed by the birds
when they eat them and take a crap.
i now use all my BAD gas to KILL it. (sparingly of course)

Ortho Brush-Be-Gone works pretty good, I think it was renamed recently to Poison Ivy Killer or something like that. Have to spray it on the leaves to do the job, so avoid spraying it during windy conditions. May take a couple of applications

I would also advise AGAINST burning any part of the plant, as the oils that are caustic can be inhaled and land you in the ER or WORSE!

We used the "Poison Ivy Killer" spray and it did take a few applications, but it is gone and has not shown signs of reappearing.

another plant you will also want to watch out for and be careful around is "Queen Ann's Lace". It is a weed that can grow up to 6' in height, with a large flat white flower that looks like an old lady's doily.
The sap of this plant is as toxic as poison ivy, oak and sumac!

A few years back we had a large specimen growing in our side yard, and we decided to pull it up. For the next week or so we developed a nasty rash and we were trying to figure out where we came across poison ivy in our yard (since we had already killed it off). After doing some research, I discovered the plant's secret and now I know to avoid it at all costs!

For me a sponge mop and a wash bucket with roundup works well. Just dip the sponge in the bucket and take your time applying the stuff

It will kill a tree if you make multiple applications within
the drip line.
If you have plants that are accesible you can take a heavy mil
plastic bag put it over your arm go to the root, pull it out then
pull the bag back over the vine and throw it away. Dress so there
is no skin exposed wash your clothes as soon as your finished
put Tech Nu on any exposed areas and take a shower.
No guarantee you won't get it, but it's always worked for me
and I'm super allergic with scars.

Like Rav says, the birds will drop the berries where you've
never had it before.

Just buy poison ivy killer. Three bucks from the hardware store. Spray it on. It turns purple and croaks. It will also kill poison oak, so be careful. Simple easy effective

been buying big bottles (last year) of round up poison ivy Killer
@ HD for twenty somethin each... and most of it ( PI) returned

Roundup makes a poison ivy killer, sells at Home depot. I used it this year and it did a good job. It did kill other weeds in the same area.

If you kill it with herbecide, how long before you can safely pull up the dead stuff without catching it. I guess the question is how long before all the oil evaporates after you kill it?

Poison ivy oil is like diamonds.......forever!
The oil can and will remain toxic even after the plant is dead!
Kill off the plant and pull the remains with gloves that you can throw away, that way you won't accidentally wipe your face/brow with the same gloves.
