Plugfest Challenge 2012
Plugfest challenge
I would like to propose a challenge to make plugs with a armed forces theme: weapons, classic paint jobs, stars and stripes, etc... All plugs will be judged at Plugfest and one will win the contest. After the contest you will donate your plug to Greg W to auction off for his fundraiser Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program.
If you do not want to donate your contest plug, make 2, keep your contest plug and donate the other one. Its for a good cause!!!
Let us know if your in.

We can work something out Chris. Do you want to enter them into the contest or do you want to send them directly to Greg?

Great idea. Just emailed my dad. A marine, no such thing as ex marine with the idea. His email starts with VMF311SF (his old unit VMF 311 plus SF for semper fi.Marine all the way. So we can discuss ideas when I am in MA again 2/4 so he can prep for Plugfest when I am in MA again to bring him. Lots of business travel for me at the moment. Bill

I'm surprised that you of all people want to use decals. I'm open to the forums decision on this one. I personally like to see custom paint jobs.

I guess I should have stated rules from the begining, so if you want use decals, custom paint, plastic model pieces, etc..... Have at it!!!
Your right, it is going to a good cause!!!
Get creative!!!
Some day, someone will need to teach me the decal trick.....
Good luck,
OD

Came to MA to visit my dad Friday 2/3 Saturday 2/4. Saw that he had put a nice decal on a metal lip swimmer and was waiting for another decal. He also signed it and added VMF311 (his WWII unit where he was metalsmith and put the bellies back on crash landed Corsairs on Roi Nomour and Kwajaleen). HE IS IN. I also saw acouple of metal lips that he has studded with a shell casing each, (and a BB inside to rattle at least 1 of them). I will be back in MA 3/3 to bring him to plugfest. We are both looking forward to it.

I'm a newbie and have only been building plugs for a year so if that's ok I'll make a plug for the raffle.

Coming to Boston this weekend and bringing my Dad (Bill) to Plugfest again this year. I know he has been working on a few plugs. He is really excited about the Plugfest Challenge and has made a few (one of which he may part with for the raffle). He was a Marine in VMF311 in WWII and as a metalsmith as he puts it "used to put the bottoms back on the Corsairs that did belly landings".
Here is a photo my niece sent me of one of his plugs (I believe that at least one of the lures has a bb in the shell casing to act as a rattle).
Hope this whet's everyone's whistle. We will see you Staurday 3/3.
Bill
