when in a large group
they are called a "Murder" of crows
and basically they are a HUNTING Pack
they post sentries and have specialized calls... skills
they hunt and KILL wild game Occasionally

bluejays do this too, but are more into wolfing down mice
i know because i feed them dead mice and watch them wolf them down
after i load my metal trap with seed and empty the contents
wet dead mice and wet seed .....they love it...

they tend to get scarce at certain times of the year and vanish
i have no idea where they go... maybe to nesting thickets
