Dave, you deserve this fish. Don't feel bad because you kept her. It is what we do. She had bred for 20+ years and was at the end of her cycle. They don't live forever. I am as much a conservationist as anyone but for Chris sake it's a 50!!!

Congrats Dave... enjoy the moment and the memory. Don't second guess the release - someone that fishes as hard and smart as you will get another chance or two.
