newport hotel

taking the family in august to newport and we need to stay overnight...any recommendations for good hotels/b&b's or other lodging?

i will be hitting the surf while they sleep!

Viking hotel, Marriott near the bus station, Some assorted b and bs on Thames and downtown areas.

There's also a bunch of time share places on Thames that rent out if there not booked or people list them on their site.

There's also a few hotels in Middletown area if you want to avoid the high cost of staying in downtown Newport.

I'll put a list together, and send you a pm. Will be later on today.

Budget? The Viking and Castle Hill are primo dollar wise. The Viking does have a nice bar though. I seem to recall phoning the desk one time the morning after and saying you charge how much for a single malt???

I go to the Marriot in Middletown.... It's half the price of Newport, 10 minute ride to town and includes a real breakfast buffet.

I also recommend the Middletown places. Castle Hill is so expensive its hard to believe but its nice. Viking is also expensive and not worth it IMO. The chain motels/Hotels in Middletown are clean and a better value.
