I might give it a go tonight, at a popular sandy spit a little northeast of south cape beach... Just soak a big chunk and see what happens...

Parking might be an issue . . . I know the lot at Heights Beach are open (and staffed) until 11 . . . the others (heading East - Bristol Beach and further down Menahaunt might be locked as early as 9 pm . . . the Town seems to be inconsistent but Id hate to see anybody locked in overnight
Might be better off heading to the West of Falmouth Harbor - along surf drive - a great spot might be at the mouth of the Trunk river (a small herring run - aren't they all) - there is a small parking area along the bike path that is never locked - room for 20 cars right at the edge of the ocean. I'm going to try and post the spot from Mapquest - but I'm sure Professor M and some of the other locals know of what I speak - you can see the path leading off Oyster Pond Road toward the water in the attached map.
My weekend place is only a couple of miles away - I've been doing some long deferred maintenance (paint, lawn, etc) if I get it done maybe I'll have the crew over for burgers 'n dogs . . . I think the only one from the "I'm In" crew that has met me is Vic . . .

sounds like we got a good crew for this. kids - bring them if you want. my kid wants in but i prob wont bring him on the 28th as it will be a late night. maybe we should do a kids trip for them. parking -we need some but some of us can meet up and cut down on cars if need be - maybe at gloustas. tackle - bring what you want for rods. i've got a chitload of terminal tackle for sharks and i'll tie up a bunch of different leaders. some for casting and some that will need to be yakked out. bait -we'll put a bunch of different stuff out - fresh macks, bluefish, pogie and eel. i'll bring a bucket of chum. we could use some glowsticks if anyone has any

did a trial run last night and went 1 for 2. ended up fishing a spot w/o an inlet, my first spot was all weeded up. got one on the beach around 60 lbs and pulled the hook on another. used a baitrunner 6500 and a stout surf chunking rod. handled the first fish well and held it's own on the other one. leader setup was ok, though my 7 foot leaders might be a little short for a bigger fish. the second fish beat up the 4' section of 130# flouro pretty good. we are on for next sat night the 28th. still need to pick a beach that can handle us. we still need a kayaker if we can get one - ive got a couple of tuna spinning setups that will be fun for this but impossible to cast.

I also got in this morning a penn 12/0 spooled with 150lb Dacron and a prototype century fighting rod. Should be able to tame whatever we run into.

chris i could have used you - damn thing wanted to eat me, what a pia to unhook. for terminal setup - a 10/0 hook haywire twisted to 3-4' of 278# wire, to a swivel to a 3-4' section of 130#flouro with a fishfinder rig on it, to another swivel to the braid. but if we have a yak i'll use a wire and cable style rig like i use in the boat, just a little shorter - like 6' of wire and 6' of cable. at least if we get a bigger one on that rig we'll have a better chance if landing it

could use a few suggestions on locations. looking for an outflow next to a beach with some parking. trunk river looked interesting but looked pretty rocky on google earth. anyone know if the area has alot of boulders? a wide open beach would be best.
