for trolling - you dont need anything, boat supplies rods and lures. for jigging tuna - flouro from 50-80#. jigs from 3-8 oz. for a setup bring whatever you think can whip a tuna. most fish are in the 30-70 pound range. i'm bringing my light cod jigging setup - a calcutta 700 on a st croix rated for 3-8 oz. and a saragossa 18000 on a tuna spinning rod. both these rods have metered braid on them, when the captain yells "they are at 120'" - you want that jig at 120'. for mahi - any medium duty setup will do (you can use it to jig up squid/bait too). 30 pound flouro and hooks in the 3/0 - 5/0 range.for chunking at night - most guys were using the boats 50's to drift bait back. there was a surprising amount of current out there, the guys chunking were stacking up 8oz egg sinkers to get thier bait down in the slick - as many as 5 sinkers. a gimbel belt comes in handy.
