Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

That is a sick fish, I just can't imagine how hard a tog that size must pull, I'm only into my second season playing around with tog and I'm hooked. Next year I'd really like to breakt he double digit mark and hope to hang a little later in the rear, too much other stuff this year, so I winterized early.

Sorry if this is an ignorant question, but why? because he was fishing while his customers were getting hung up? That would piss me off too. I honestly don;t understand what the protocol is on a boat like that so if you could explain this to me I would be appreciative. I'm really not trying to be a wise-ass, just wondering what your thoughts are on this. Thanks Paul...

hey bart, capts and mates should fish at times. i've seen mates hook a fish and pass it off to a kid or to a novice to give them a chance to tug on fish. i'm just saying if i was a paying customer on a partyboat, maybe the guys on either side of him or a regular that has spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours on that boat, i would just be left with a bad taste in my mouth. if a fellow angler hangs it - so be it. think of it this way - your on the rail, it's cold and you've been fishing your ass off all day and the captain comes out of the wheelhouse drops a line in for a 20 minutes and pulls up a beast.right next to you. odds are that fish was going to eat on that drop. just being a greedy angler i guess . all that being said, it is an amazing tog - congrats to him

I don't feel like the captain should be fishing on a party boat either. It is bad etiquette on the capts behalf. He is being paid to put OTHERS on fish, not himself. There will be days for capt and crew to fish but not during a chartered party.

If you were on a tuna charter trip, trolled offshore all day without a hit offshore, then at the end of the day the rod goes off, the capt jumps off the bridge and says Ill take it and reels in a trophy. How would you feel? You are paying for this trip. Why is bottom fishing any different? Yes it is more casual but the roles are the same. Capt's responsibility is the safety of the vessel and its passengers, and his duty is also to try and find fish for YOU, the paying passenger. The crew is to help you out anyway they can to make your trip more enjoyable. I have no problem with a mate dropping a line and hooking up then passing the rod to a kid to help get him in the game. But neither the capt nor crew should pounding fish along with the guests.

Whom ever was standing next to the captain was mugged big time!

Regardless, of all that, that is a hell of a fish!
