I think about him every time I go past eel pond. His name seems to always come up each spring when we are squidding in Edgartown.

There has been a lot of near-fatal fishing accidents out here (since I've lived here) that you don't hear much about but you really have to be mindful of what can happen. (even in calm shallow water) I fish alone many nights because I like the solitude of late night mid week surfcasting in hard to get to spots and I am not quite as fit as I was when I was in my 20's so I tend to be overly careful now and don't do the things I use to. And now with my back problems it is the way things have to be. Enjoy your youth, it will fade, but be careful anyway. When I see the Orange/white rescue chopper fly over my house and hover in the pond I know someone was overconfident when the evening started out. It happens too often
