Wanted to Buy Fixter Plugs.
I would like to get some Fixter pikies and other Fixter metal lips- some to fish and some to keep as backups. I try not to think I collect anything.
I talked to Mike last week in California and he is a good guy- gave me advice on tuning and fishing his pikies and striper fishing in California in general.
Used or new condition. Prices for Fixters are up right now and I will pay surprising money- especially for big 3 hook pikies with screw down lips in unused condition. If you would rather trade for plugs I have hard to find plugs you may like.
So let me know - Maybe I am just going stir crazy - Thanks. Rob

Be careful if your buying or trading for them, lots of fakes out there, they even have the red glitter on the bottom.
A guy on sol bought 6 or 8 and when he asked mike about them they were fakes, I picked one up from him for 20 bucks.

WOW
unreal that someone would go that far to make a buck
I wish I had more,I could use the dough

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.
1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!

They were so good even Mike had trouble telling them apart at first glance, the signs were the tail wrap and epoxy, nut otherwise real good copies.

In an effort to pry some loose, I have Beachmasters, Habs, Afterhours darters and Wood Don Musso plugs for trade.
Or min of $75 for 3 hook pikies in good shape.
Just saying.

I made a few exact copies of the smaller ones a bunch of years ago.. I would be willing to give up maybe 2 if I can find them. Give you a good deal. I really don't fish them much. Just a thought if you are looking for fishing them and not collecting.

I got all of mine from the Big Man himself, but really---why would anyone bother making fakes? They were great fish catchers, but aesthetically, they weren't very pleasing to the eyes. He'd probably be flattered that anyone went through the trouble of copying them.
He was legally blind, and hand-cut every single one of them. No duplicator. No two were ever exactly alike. I knew the guy for over 20 years, and helped him rig hundreds of plugs, and even I couldn't tell a fake from an original.
He deliberately mis-weighted some so they'd come in on their sides, thinking they would better imitate a wounded baitfish. And you know what? He was right.

these are the ones the guy bought, all fakes, I got one for reference reasons as i built my first pikies this season.
I paid $20, believe the guy paid closer to $50 each
The second pic is my tester version in primer, will probably ditch the split rings on the final ones. 8.5" and 4oz

this is a real one that I got in a fundraiser that has the latest eyes he used and an older one with the eyes he used around 7 or 8 years ago. For comparison. His pikies from the 80's had eyes made of sneaker eyelets with map pins in them

I would love to to get the real big California- 9 inch 4.5 ounce pencils shown in picture. I only have 2 of those. Pretty rare.
Also Interested in the 8 inch version. Have smaller ones.
