So - are we a go? work has made my participation this week tentative. I have only gotten 5 hours sleep in the last 3 days. I am a little punchy....looks like another all nighter tonight and potentially tomorrow night, which would take me out of the running for a cod trip this weekend. But if all goes well, I will get some sleep tomorrow and get out on the boat Saturday - if it is a go.

Sure seems to have lost a lot of steam.

I agree about the weather s#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g. Tomorrow I'm already committed but if not, I'd sure be out there. Saturday sounds terrible to me. I must be getting old. But who knows. It might be good enough for a run around the graves or B bouy?? We'll see.

This morning was wicked cold and the wind at dawn was >10 WSW here in Plymouth. Once I rounded the Gurnet there was a 6 to 8' swell coming in from the NE but there was plenty of separation so we headed up to High Pines (nada) and then to Farnham Rock (3 dogfish). The swells were starting to steepen and some were rolling in closer to shore so we bagged it and went to Bickfords for a nice hot breakfast. No fish, it was cold but the sunrise was absolutely beautiful and it is always a pleasure to fish with my friend George

I started out this morning with my son after it appeared it was going to be a nice day.
On the ride down to my boat, I made a few calls to some guys to see if they wanted to come with me, but no one availably!
I got to the boat and carried some stuf to the boat and started the enging on the boat to warm up while I carried more stuf down from my truck.
Called Striper1 on the vhf to see how the seas were on the outside, but i couldn't hear his response!
Thats where the nice day ended!!!
My motor started coughing and kept stalling
I checked the water separator and it was FULL of water
I pulled the cowling off the motor to see the gas filter on the enging was FULL also!!!
That was about 9:00am , It took All day to get the problem fixed

I watched the weather forecast closely and didnt go out but I swear if things down the water were like it was at my house they royally screwed the wind forecast up. Tomorrow the boat goes in for the new Suzuki 250 and I should have it for midweek so if the weather is nice next weekend I am gonna be out.

This ment I had to do a double!! So my normal 8 hour shift that turned to 9 because on Daylight savings now turned into a 17 hour shift!!! And I have to go back at midnight to night!!

But I see a break in the weather for wed thur and maybe friday?? I looked at the wind and so far it looks like crap!
NW 15 to 20 on Wed

COD

I just wanted to say Thanks to Canalratt1 and Swede...

For a good day of old school cod fishing

We ended up with 7 for the box up to 10 pounds.

We started at the dumping ground and ended up at the B bouy.

seas where 1-2 feet with a wind of 5 -10 not the 15-20 they where calling for

There had to be 10 to 20 boats fishing the B bouy.

Ron, I was at the dumping ground when you called I tryed to get back to you maybe we where just out of range..

Ron, sounds like to much water from condensation ??
maybe the gasket on your gas fill ??
or the vent ???

Frank.

No, thanks to you Striper1! Awesome day out there even got down to our t-shirts! Saw a pilot whale caught a few. Got back to the dock and they didn't even want a fillet! Now my belly is full of fresh caught cod, life is good!

Well, you better put up that boat cause I want another indian summer!!!

Remember the thanksgiving snow in 88 or was it 89?

There is a fine line that seperates a fisherman from a fool standing in water swinging a stick.

will cook for food
...and plugs

I no I no!! happens everytime!! If I leave it out it will be snowing before you no it! If I put it away then the weather will be great!!

Can't win

Well it will be uncovered and able to fish till thanksgiving while I do some upgrades, so if I can go when it is nice I will do. But after thanksgiving its all done.

I wish i had a garage to keep it in!!! It would be ready all year round then!!

I'm up for a spring trip. My first trip is usually the Winni Spring Derby. I like the idea of being on a lake the first trip out in case I have any mechanical difficulties. Pretty tough to float to England from Lake Winnipesaukee.
