I just had 3 days in the basement. Time to come up for air.

I finally finished my mini swap plugs. I'll try to get them out tomorrow or the next day.

I've got a batch of slim dannies turned and drilled, and I took the heat gun to a dozen plugs that were either beat up or had epoxy probs, and stripped em back to bare wood to give them a second chance. kinda cool seeing teeth marks in the wood. I've gotta go thru all my bags and see how many other do-overs I have.

I spent the rest of the weekend working out the kinks on a protype, and I turned a batch of those today. ..

trying to get caught up, basement.. AAAAGGGHHH...
right now, in order of importance... swap plugs, and Owseies, first, then a few fixed up ooopsies, and some bodies from a couple of other builders need to be finished... then a couple of new, (for me) styles... was hoping to make this my winter in darter hell, but that will have to wait till next year

Pikies: mini's, jumbos and a couple of sizes in between. Oh yea, jointeds. Been messing with a different joint design hoping to tighten up the wiggle a bit from that wide snake-swim. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But right now I'm just getting out of component hell with a new plugging rod I'm putting together.

Cowboy, A40 and a couple of spooks are going in the indoor test facility this afternoon. Kinda nice to have access to a Olympic size swimming pool on winter days.

i'm perfecting the fine art of completely screwing up nice looking plugs in the final stage.

it was sweet til i got greedy and tried one more coat of clear after waiting too long between coats.
the fresh stuff attacked everything that had already started to set up

i was going for the crackle to bigin with just on the bottom, but the clear messed everything up big time.

spray yellow then right away hit it with florescent orange. the orange dries much faster than the yellow so it will crackle nice.
i'm gunna try it agian.

is the yellow oil base and the orange something else? I remember having that happen with a base color and a black over spray. AT the time I got pissed and wiped it off so I don't remember the combination of paints. Now I wish I could replicate it....

nope both krylon short cuts rattle cans.
not sure on the formula but florescent dries really fast and solids dry slower.
silver or gold same thing.dries really fast.
you can get krackle rattle cans. but i just stumbled onto this combo.
i show you in about an hour
