Bigbo, that drives me nuts too. I mean, it doesn't really bother me, but he's right, its just showing, "hey, I got this fish on a fly rod"... I just think its dorky

I catch a few on the flyrod each year myself and I understand wanting to get the rod in the pic (if its a good fish like that one), but would probably stop short of holding it in my mouth. I see the pose alot when checking reports in FL.

Just don't put your sabiki rod in your mouth when you get a big herring (in 3 years)... the scales don't taste good.

Zacs, that's a great looking boat. Looks really versatile... not too huge, but looks like it will handle some big water. Good luck with it.

The pose is not so much to show that it was a flyrod caught fish as it is a convenient way to hold the rod when your hands are full with the fish. Not many people want to leave a $1000 of rod, reel and line loose in the bottom of the boat (or in the surf) while trying to quickly get a pic and get the fish back in the water.

A pose that makes a good shot might be for the photographer to lay the rod in the crook of his arms, take the pic, then grab the rod again for the angler.

I agree that the rod in teeth looks goofy. I also think it's a nice fish.

Best regards,
Roger
