if it was like that all the time you would not bee feeling the sense of accomplishment you are probably feeling right now. We all have our own set of goals, and personally, if I could catch a fish like that all the time, i doubt i would have the same passion for striped bass fishing that i have now...
at anyrate, that is one dandy of fish you got there.

For starters, and the important part, Nice Fish Brandon! That's awesome!
As for the "spot" issue, when used in a rought time style report, the policy on this site is that you can narrow it down to a particular town. Not precise spots. That is the way it is. Not trying to be a pain in the ass but that is the rule. If someone chooses to discuss some things about a spot, not in a report, that's fair.
Thanks,
John

I just pulled the "spot info" because it is against the site's policy and I removed the negative banter by both "sides" of this issue as it got stupid and unnecessary. The Kid got a great fish, bigger than 99% of the people here so far this year, maybe even 100% - One Helluvan Accomplishment and it does not need to be degraded by people standing on their soap box. Gee, maybe I shouldn't go fishing so I can hang around here to break up these stupid shooting matches. If people have a problem with a post, inform the moderators and we'll look into it. Pounding chests does squat. Further negative discussion on this thread will cause "time outs"

Great Job Brendon -

I've seen quite a few fatties so far. Even the ones I've cleaned that had nothing in them had some fat on them. There are more pogies around this year than in past years, too. Coincidence??---I think not
I've also seen, and heard of, several fish still carryiing their roe sacks.

I got a nice once this weekend that was 27#s and only 40 inches - almost shaped like an albie. Gut was empty.

I agree. It could well have come from further South, but I wouldn't doubt that was a Narragansett Bay fish finally coming out after feasting on adult pogies for a month or 2.
If that massacre taking place down in Jersey ever stops and those fish come North, we could definitely see some impressive fish taken this summer.
Hopefully this is just the first...

Hey Brendon,
All I have to say is "WOW". Question: Was the Black Sluggo rigged as the photo from JOE (two hooks)? If so, Which hook actually caught the fish? As the crowd said ..... Congratulations and I'm sure you were hooked prior to the mammoth fish.

The slug-go was rigged with two hooks just as found in Joe's picture and jast as you find on his site. It was mostly the head hook in the fish's mouth. I say "mostly" because both hooks were actually in her mouth. However they were positioned in such a way that you could tell the head hook was taken first with the tail hook stuck in the mouth but just barely. I had 28#er two weeks ago hooked in a similar manner. But like I said they're taking them head first none the less.

Nice Striper John!
This is a guess theory of mine.... many of the baits the bass have had recently digest quickly....pogies,sandeels, and squid...hence fat bass empty stomach ....maybe?

Brendan, congratulations on your KORKER!! That is one FINE catch you made there. Enjoy all the memories of the pursuit, the hookup, the fight and the landing of that large fish, you never know when another will come along.
