There is plenty of evidence that plastic worms show up often in the stomachs of trout and they cannot expel them. A lot of the rubber worms are picked up from the bottom of lakes because the trout think that they are food. If they have too many in their stomachs, they can starve to death. I would support a ban on non-biodegradable plastics.

Yeah, god forbid fisherman care about the environment. I live in NY where lead isn't forbidden. I still don't use split shot. That is because it is bad for the fish, birds and for the waters I fish. Maybe you should start ingesting some lead and see where that gets you. Please take some pics and post them. I would love to see when your gums turn black and what Renal failure really looks like.
As fisherman we should try to protect what we hold most sacred. If it means losing the lead and using Tungsten then so be it. I do what I can and so should everyone else. It sounds like you are the guy who leaves his trash on the beach and keeps all his shorts. Who cares, let someone else worry about it, my selfishness is my top priority.
People complain about Liberals but it is these attitudes that cause all the problems.

If it happens, I'll have a sweat boat for sale and my golf game will be improving quickly. Well on second thought, I'll stall the sale until I fish out all my old stock and good luck to them trying to inforce that one.

If the lead isn't falling out of your plugs I am sure it won't be a problem.

Beamie the attachements were good. If people read this I do not believe it will pass. mass wildlife would have to implement a lead exchange program. Thats nuts.

We interupt this marriage to bring you fishing season!!!

Wink

I carry a heck of a lot more trash off the beach than I carry on!!!

I bet the state would hate the Sinkers I have made out of Batteries. You can really hurl the D-Cells and the AAA's work with the light gear..

Now if they banned pink Tampon applicators the beach would be a much better place.

I don't use plastic baits, only the biodegradable ones from Berkely. Seems to fish just as well, and is about as harmful if it falls off the hook as an apple core.

Plastic gives off some seriously nasty chemicals as it degrades, and it degrades =slooooowly=... decades, or longer. The water here in RI is dirty enough as it is, thanks. How many of you have found used and discarded plastics at your favorite fishing hole? I have. How many of you have had a fish rob your soft bait from your hook? I have. With a plastic worm, that's one hurting fish, as bad as gut-hooking it with a lure With a bio-bait worm, it's a well-fed fish.

I also don't use lead weights - lead alternative weights are cheap enough these days. I don't like the idea of putting a toxic metal into the water I take fish from.

There's a Japanese company that makes bio-degradable line, but it hasn't made it over here, yet. When it does, I'll be spooling up with that.

I don't think this stuff is any business of the government to regulate, but I do think it's good practice in general.

I'm not going to waste too much time with this classless post. Hopefully you've embarassed yourself enough and nothing more needs to be said.
