some time around the 1700's i believe. kids were givin a gun at the age of 6 or 7 and taught how to use it to hunt and protect their families.. kind of funny how 200 years later we have made taboo to give a kid a gun, and yet the "child" related gun casualties are rising.
thats some damn good forward progression if i've ever seen it.

and the fault lies with the parents. parents these days seem to be trying so hard to alleviate themselves of the burden of children. and who can blame them? theres simply no time to raise a proper family these days. every day is just go go go go go go make money make money make money make money. hell from what i'm seeing weekends are starting to come to end. most people i know are working weekends to some end. especially anyone under the age of 30. and last i knew the typical baby having age was some where around 26. which has been pushed back over the millenia from 14. kinda funny how the people of the old world seemed far more mature and had younger parents.. ofcourse that wont work these days.. because its all about being financially secure and you just cant be that at that age these days...

its beyond a solution at this point. until robo nannies are invented. parents dont have time their kids. and its not truly the parents fault (in most cases). for those of you that can and do make time for your kids more power to you. but realize yer a dying breed. there is no room for family in todays world.

They should have expelled the 9 yr old if the zero tolerance policy is in effect. If you got caught at school with baggies and scale they can't do jack.Neither are illegal for anyone to have and unless they have the stuff that is going in the bags they have nothing. They probably suspended the kid while on the phone with the local news trying to make a breaking news story.Bunch of crap is all it is.This zero tolerance policy means that if you bring a gun you get suspended for 4 days ? Does the situation get reviewed by the superintendant before issuing the suspension ? If so shame on that guy for being clueless to what it was and how the child obtained it.Now if your claiming zero tolerance in this case why isn't the kid expelled ? Zero tolerance is just that.Personally if the principle and teacher sat with the child and called his parents in he would of been forgiven and the whole ugly news story would have never happened. Why did it unfold the way it did ? I'll never know but I'll bet it goes deeper than what you and I know.

I have a for instance in regard to this post

Say for instance, this kid walks through the park on his way to school and walks by the war memorial where 4, or 5, or 6 guys paid tribute to our fallen soldiers by firing a salute, maybe more than one salute. Little kid finds an empty shell. Taps on it and blows air into the shell and hey he finds out it wistles when you blow air into it real hard. Ah, new toy. How is exited little boy wth new toy supposed to convert this joyous thought into remembering that this item is contraband in school.

How many times as a nine year old did we have to be told something to remember what we had been told? Once, twice, ah.............

Zero tolerance yes, but five day suspension, I don't know.

My son took the hunter education course, has been around firearms his whole life and treats them as tools. Not weapons. Do you want your 16 year old who has never been around a gun, with my son when they find a loaded gun under Grandpa's mattress or Likwids kid.

I'm only there for the lunch special.

And "likwids kid"?
I've probably put more rounds of ammo through more interesting guns with far better educated people as far as firearms go than you will in your entire life.

WTF!!!!!This has nothing to do with liberals or conservatives or zero tolerance. This youngster was given an empty (blank)casing from a 21 gun salute by a war vet and wanted to show his teachers and friends. You people are arguing politics and pro/anti gun crap! Its an empty casing plain and simple and cannot hurt anyone.Grow up.

PS.Likwid don't bother responding as your rhetoric is well documented.Us rednecks have heard enough from the likes of you.Btw can you be from RI and a redneck at the same time?I always thought rednecks came from the south...but no that would be a stereotype and racist, just like all Africans are ni&&ers.Gimme a break Likwid with your stupid redneck racist crap.
