Thanks for all the kind words Saw him today, and they have no clue what he has now, something bacterial is all we know, and the doctor hasn't been in to see him yet. So we have no clue when he's coming home and were starting to try and think of something to help us make ends meet. Dad says thanks so much and he can't wait to get out fishing again!

Katie, keeping you and your dad in my prayers.
Shingles absolutely suck, but they go away with rest.
And Lyme is treatable with drugs.
So hopefully he'll mend before the fall run gets into full swing!

The doc saw him at 9 last night and they figured out what he has. He has something called Callilitus.
We're off to go see him now, but I'll keep yall updated

T&P sent
katie: if you have any specific medicine related questions, send me a PM as I might be of some help. Cellulitis is a simple bacterial infection of the skin that can usually be treated with antibiotics. Lyme Disease and Herpes Zoster (ie shingles) can also cause skin pain, rash/lesions and some possible nerve damage such as in Bell's Palsy. It is hard at times to diagnose either of these, especially Lyme. Herpes-Zoster can sometimes be diagnosed by a viral culture of a skin lesion. As for lyme disease, usually all that can be determined is if one has been exposed to Lyme (ie have antibodies against lyme) but not necessarily if it active disease or the cause of the problem.
It is good that he is being seen by an ID specialist; as they should be able to sort these things out. I am a bit biased towards Boston , but I would not go pushing him to be transferred jsut yet.

Well I am home. I want to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. They did and are still helping.
What may have started as a possible shingles outbreak (never had them) or possibly a missed tick bite somehow became infected with a staph or streep virus and just went to town on my head and face.
Five days at home basically in bed. I went back to see the Doctor five days after the initial visit and he about fell off his chair. Dr. said test came back I tested positive for acute lyme and that he was going to call the hospital because I really need to start some IV therapy for the lyme and whatever it is that is going on on my face and head. He called the infectous disease doctor and sent him all the info and 3 hours later I was in a hospital bed. I have to admit the staff at St. Annes had to have been some of the most polite and professional from the cleaning crew right up to the RN's.
But as for Doctors I will always be suspscious. But hey "the shotgun antibiotic atttack" (Dr's quote) has seemed to work.
Cellulitis is the affliction and it is definately on it's way out. I will be on meds for a month or so with a bunch of checkups scheduled. I am hoping we caught the Lyme early enough. I feel better and am pretty sure I will be tossing eels again this weekend.
Thanks again for everyones positive thoughts.
