Ugh.... My stomach and heart just sank reading through this.... Feeling it with you Rick. And it is gonna sting for a while I'm afraid.... If it's right for you, do get another dog. My yard is not good and is why we have been without for some time... Thinking of you and your son as you navigate this loss.

So sorry Rick.
I know all too well how it feels.
It's a bit over a year ago I lost my Boxer "Raider" as many on this site know (got 2 boxers buried in my yard) and also through this site we got another boxer "Dakota" from Luds.
If you love dogs give it some time then get another one.
You can never replace what you had but another one will come along and make you happy in different ways.

Sorry for you loss Rick
I had to put my dog down in feb. He was an awesome dog,
Boy did that suck.
But the best thing I did for my family was got another dog,
shortly after his passing.
You can never replace one with another it just made it easer to
have another dog around.

As many know, Sammy was supposed to become queen of the house. My yellow lab, Sophie, is almost 14. She won't make it thru another winter. My other chocolate is buried in the backyard. I expected to lose a friend, but never thought it would be Sammer.
My boy was so strong, which I am not so sure is good. He has seen Dad cry more than a few times(I am a mess at most kids movies, hallmark commercials, etc - usually happy stuff) but he has only seen me emotionally upset at a few funerals and the loss of the dogs. Good opportunity to explain that it is fine for men to cry. Tough answering questions that I really don't have answers to.
Thanks all for your thoughts. There will be another pup in the future but it's not in the cards right away. Probably will look for another Choc so if anyone has a lead on good female in a few mths, drop me a pm. Again, thanks guys, this helped and my condolences to all who have had similar losses.

Rick, so sorry about your pup, she was a great looking dog.
I went into a huge depression after I lost Hooper unexpectedly last summer so I know how you must be feeling right now. Then I got another Lab pup and I have been to busy to be depressed and life rolls on...

Sorry to hear about this. Long way back we had a Black lab, about 8 moths old, and I had her out just for a sec getting her water turned around gone, started calling her and 2 sec later i hear the tires locking up out on the road. Yup buried her myself before the kids got home. Doesn't take long.
