Moderate thread HiJack...
Couple things - Salty wants to sell plugs and he offered to sponsor here (and he sponsors somewhere else too). The details will be out soon but it's pretty much official.
I'm not a plug builder so I can't tell you what weight placement offests that hook to make a wiggle this way but cross pollenization of wooden plugs have been going on since before many of us were born. There is probably a lot less original thinking from EVERYONE than they might think. You think every current Gibbs model is fresh and revolutionary? Nobody ever mad a needle like Hab's? I remember when he was still giving them out for testing, long before Internet Ho'ing was fashionable. Build plugs that work & build them well (and throw in nice colors that catch fishermen )
I would like to see the general gist of this thread lighten up a bit. Major thread hijacking going on... Enough of that crap from me for now. Slip - nothing to be sorry for .

JHabs - you got a beard & it's gray right? I wasn't knocking your plugs. I was trying to engage my frazzled and tired of 5 hours commuting back & from work today brain, guess I failed . Remember 5 years ago when I told you were were gonna sell plugs on the net - Remember that?

Krispy what the hell are you talking about ? I'm not knocking Gibbs. I'm not knocking Habs. In fact, I'm not knocking anyone. What I'm saying is that there is a lot of similarities between different plugs & plug makers. When you get to the little guys (Habs bub - you're a little guy but you are the BIG little guy ), you also hope for and get that extra tuning & consistency not found in the big guys. The quality & performance of these plugs will speak for themselves. If they suck - people won't buy them. If they fall apart - people won't buy them. If they're top quality and catch fish - people WILL pay the extra coin for the custom plug guy.
As for the $$ comment - #^^^^^^^^^^^& is going to be a sponsor here, as will probably Habs, Tattoo is now as well. These guys kick in extra dough and plugs ( ) to keep the lights on. But they are also looking to sell their works. And they fully understand that. Shoot, you even donated a few plugs to the site last year, remember? This sponsorship helps pay the bills. Notice there are NO annoying Popup ads or running on a slow but free server or that you are on one of those really annoying daily mass e-mails or prohibition of links. I don't sell anyones names, info or addresses to anyone. You know - I would LOVE to be able to do a site where there is no advertising at all or whatever advertising there is goes to a "Take a Kid Fishing" charity. If I was loaded it would be a different story. Instead, I've kicked in my own coin over the past few years to keep this site as open & honest as I can (and that coin would have me a lot farther towards the boat I want or a new Sand Sled). This year might be the first that DOESN'T require me to cough up money out of my pocket to run (thank God but this isn't how I intend to make a living). Some like to make plugs as a hobby, or build rods, or tie flies, or phart on Internet pages - me I try to run a quality site that's open and freindly that doesn't SELL anything. This is what I do. So please understand if I get a little tweaked when I see something like that (I'll still sit down & have a beer with you though - no hard feelings)
Damn - I'm rambling here - All I'm saying is let's all lighten up a little, I'm not trying to squash honest discussion here - really I'm not. I don't censor anything unless it's rude or illegal (and the rude stuff can go in the Gutter ) or really attacking someone. I don't squash links, or tell people not to talk about things or products or sites or anything - there is enough of that already. I just want a positive place and not overly negative. Honest & Fair... (I sound like a friekin' politician )
I will encourage people to check out our sponsors FIRST before going somewhere else. And I DO think that is very fair...

I second that motion, this site has been really free of the bickering that goes on at some other places we all know about, let's keep it that way. John if you win the presidency, I'd like a nice choice cabinet job (on paper), just send me a weekly check .
