Didn't know where else to ask/post
Just a quick question on Cod Charters out of the point judith area..
I've fished on this charter boat out of galilee (80-100'+ boats) for the past 6 years or so.. with the last year being no-so-nice. Pay to go out on a Cod trip get there and there's 20 or so guys and you end up going for an inshore seabass/scup trip.. I would have been what ever but I remember this one trip 2 years ago with some serious windage and really high seas... there was about 20-30 people onboard (7 being my friends) and we went out for Cod.. i think within the first 30 min's of fishing half of the clients got sick... before we moved to another spot there was only 3-5 people fishing.. Once we moved 75% of the people came out to brave it again.. once we stoped it was just me and a few others...
heh... my question is..
Could someone tell me who is pretty good where i dont have to drive 60+ miles(from Fall River, MA) to get on a decent Charter...
much thanks

Welcome to S-B.... Go to Plymouth. Just don't take the Andy Lynn ... There is simply better codfishing out of there than Rhody. Rhody does have better scup & seabass ....

Or go to Walsh, Capt. Jim's season ends on Nov.15th. Alternatively, you can charter yourself with Captain Mike B from this forum or Captain Lou Abate. Check these out, www.avemariacharters.com (Capt. Mike) and www.bostoncharters.com (Capt. Lou).

Thanks alot... i like the bigger charter boats right now... (since i'm between jobs... hehe) and the way the waters are right now being tempermental and all i'd feel just a tad bit safer on a 60+' boat... i've heard nothing but good things from the 2 Notaro mentioned and i will try them next year when things are on the up for me.. JohnR,, I've fished Plymouth years ago with capt john(10 years or so) didn't really care back then with all the drop the line and reel them up and move... i think we did more driving around then fishing the 2 times i went out....is the lynn the same?
thanks again for the inputs i really appreciate it...

from what i heard abt the lynn, capt. walsh just bring you to places and where you can focus fishing instead of looking at a beautiful scenary. but with him, you gotta make a reservation.

The northshore boats (like Walsh) might be the best. The Cpt johns are OK - ths fishing is just better in Plymouth. They all drop & move
The Andy Lynn has had some negative trips with some members here

Stay away from the Plymouth boats! The best ones I have fished are the Bunny Clark out of Maine but he just ended his season. and The Yankee Fleet out of Glouster, Ma. but I have heard very good things about Walshes out of Lynn, they will be the next ones I go on.

Hey CRatt - the Plymouth boats (for the most part) are an upgrade over the Rhody boats.
Leptar - he'r right about Glouceter & Lynn
