Surfcasting

I have gone surfishing a number of times over the last few years and I find it to be awesome. The best part for me is early am plugging. Anyways I want to make a bigger commitment to this. So I would like some advice on rods. I need two rods a 10 foot single piece plug rod and reel and a eeling rod, I have already got a Shimmano Baitrunner for the eeling rig. Any thoughts on this stuff.

If early morning plugging is your game I would ask you what plugs and sizes do you use???? If you are throwing anything from 1 oz. to 2.5 oz. I would recommend looking at some of the 9' lami blanks, they may better suit your needs, a 10' rod, depending on what you are tossing may be overkill. Again, it depends on what you are tossing out there. I do mucho plugging myself and throw mostly 1-2 oz. pencil poppers and needlefish....a nine footer is a lot less work and handles the fish quite nicely. Just my opinion Duke41.

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

Ron's 9' and 11' one piece rods are out of the world.

The 10's aren't too shabby, either

Rather than taking 6" off the tip of a 1321, I would probably take 6" off the butt of a 1322, if 10-6 was my ideal length.

The 10' 1205 is plenty stiff as is and can still load well enough to cast a 1-1/2 oz jig.

If you can live with a 2 piece, I recommend the All-Star 1265. It is 10' 6" long and rated for 3/4 to 3 oz. It is my go to rod for eels and plugs. The sweet spot is right at 2 oz. With this rod you'll be able to get by with one rod for just about everything but hurling massive plugs and jigging the canal.
