BEST COD JIGS

I've heard of a bunch. Giant crippled herrings. "99n"s. Angerman. Norweigan, and many russian(?) ones I cannot spell.

What are your favorites, and in what sizes? And teasers, type, size and color?

Tight Lines!

you lose jigs so frequently you stop having favorites and are just thankful to having one. Weight on jigs is dependent on the conditions and the depth. I believe in going with the lightest jig that holds bottom. Yesterday I was in 240ft holding bottom with 16oz, this summer in the same spot I had to use 24oz+ because the drift was fast.
I like silver jigs, but my favorite are the cheap(no names with quality tackle) ones at the Mass Bass Show. My buddies biggest cod this year came off a homemade copper tube filled with lead, no paint just nasty weathered copper color, not appealing to the consumer, but cod don't see to mind.

Redlite is correct, he emits something that prevents bottom fish from hitting. I think if he stands on a bag of sand next time, the comfort feeling will return and he'll start hooking up.

InshoreAngler, keep it simple, go with different weights as you never know what the wind and tide will do to you out there. I have used the mega-bait jigs in the mackerel pattern and have had great success with them, also the norwiegen jigs, picked them up at fore river bait and tackle as he is giving a 15% discount on jigs right now.

But as I said get a few different weights. As far as teasers go I really think that just about any soft plastic, from curly tail grubs to those little squids will work. Have done great this year with pink/white, orange/yellow, and purple.
