Talking ice fished today- caught striper

ok, went to holdover spot today. walked down to the water to see it was frozen, bout 1/4" thick. there was open water farther out so i was casting over the ice into open water then reeling in till i hit the ice and sliding my jig back to where i was standing, cast again, and repeat. after bout an hour i got a hit, hooked him and fish started peeling line over the ice. this was a nicer fish, especially because i was usin 6 pound test on a feshwater rod. so after bout 5 minutes of fighting and seeing my line dragging over the ice and makin some bad sounds the fish finally put his head through the ice and i began to winch him in, his thrashing breaking the ice along the way.i finally landed him. hes 32" caught on a homemade 1/2oz bucktail, pink over white. i wanted some fish to eat so i kept him. ill never forget this fish. december 28th, a newspaper to back it up.

live to fish. fish to live. rod tips high.

Nice job, good fish for December. I was out today, flat calm, sunny and warm. It wasn't the big bite Clammer and I had Friday, but half those numbers along with the beautiful weather made for a beautiful day. My thumb is sore and raw, it's December and life was good for a few days. Too bad reality sets back in tomorrow.

Don't often post because Christian always beats me to it.

I don't remember making that bet but I guess he deserves a Bomber anyway!!

I can't compete. This kid is killing me!
