To all plug makers out there...
I also posted this up on the Hab's New Years Thread...
I have been working on putting together a display of the creations of the many craftsmen that are out there so that I can showcase their talents at future events...
Consider it a "plug" for Plug makers!...
So far, I've got a few contributors, and I'm hoping to get more who are out there who are willing to kick in a plug toward the cause.
If anyone is interested, please PM me as I would love to add your work to this collection that will be touring around eventually...
THIS IS NOT A PLUG HO'ING SOLICITATION...
This is a project that is a labor of love... as there are some great craftsmen out there who have amazing hidden talent!
I'm hoping to bring recognition of those talents to the forefront in the near future...
Hopefully, I will be able to get these into some of our local publications!
I will be attending the Plugfest event being hosted by Slipknot this Saturday, so if you see me there and you are interested, please let me know...
Thanks!

NIce idea Don
I will make mention of it Tom. also.
This is what Bliz has in mind (his words) :
--------------------------------------------------
I have been working on collecting signed plug creations from our talented plug makers out there that will eventually, in the near future tour the New Engalnd area fishing shows.
I was wondering if you would be willing to make mention of that for this event for Saturday?
My goal is to showcase the hidden talents of fellow Surfcasters out there like yourself, who are true craftsmen who build their own plugs.
I also want to showcase some of the innovations of these craftsmen, and believe that this project will benefit many New England fishermen!
PLease let me know if you could help me out on this...
Saturday presents itself as a great opportunity to put the word out there for those who want to play a part in this amazing project!...
--------------------------
So if you can help him out, great!
Thanks
see you all there.

Newlly,
I'm planning on getting a collection together for touring the fishing shows for the New England area...
I believe this project will benefit many New England and East Coast Anglers as well as offer recognition to those out there who have amazing talent!...
No Ho!!!... not for this anyway...
That ain't what this is about...

Are you planning to get a table at these events to set up displays or just carry around a satchel mingling with people at others booths. Please advise as inquiring minds want to know. If done with a booth how will this benefit you? Is it a side attraction for something else you are doing? Sorry if these questions seem mundane just looking for answers.

What I am looking to do is to add this as a side attraction in the future for Angling shows so that others who are building can come to see the talents as well as the innovations of others who are out there building their own plugs.
Not only that, it will inspire others to get involved in their own undertakings to build as well!...
I think that this can make a signifigant contribution to those who are building to inspire them toward new ideas, and to encourage those who have always wanted to build their own plugs.
There is no agenda behind this project whatsoever...
My benefit is that I can contribute in a unique way toward the love of surf fishing and to recognize the craftsmanship of those out there who feel the same!
Nothing to sell or peddle... but the LOVE of the SPORT!!!

This would go up as a table at the area events...
Not everyone is in it for themselves!!!

Let me know what type of plug you would like me to make.

Might be a good idea if people are worried that this is a plug hoing expedition (and I do not believe it is) after Bliz is done with the tour for this show season, auction off the plugs as a lot to benefit the site! That way nobody is getting something for nothing and everyone benefits! Just a thought! I think it is a good idea Bliz and if you do it, remember the MSBA show is in March!

I think it is a worth while venture and you plug builders should help out Bliz (I would, but I ain't making any plugs.....YET)! I for one would love to see such a collection and as co-chair for the MSBA Fishing Show to be held in March, I would formally like to invite Bliz to bring his display (should it be ready) to the MSBA show! I think we can probably find a spot for it!

GB, AlR & I have had tremendous success in the past organizing support from those on this site when we conceived a winter get together last February. Collectively, we had raised a substantial amount of money for the maintenance of this site over the past year.
The members here have been AMAZING in stepping up to the plate in volunteering their time, talent and treasure toward the love of Striped Bass fishing and the site, (It was staggering!) and I am confident that many of you will help out again on this project!
This project has the potential toward bringing together many more anglers from various organizations and has tremendous potential toward bringing us closer together as a fishing community.
Anyone else on board?...
Please let me know.
Thanks again BigFish.

The one I promised leaves Long Island tomorrow. I did say I would try to get out a jointed as well and I will try. I just don't want to TOTALLY drop the ball here.
One on the way and save me a spot...we'll see!

The ones sent to me will go through a tour of some of the westcoast best fishing holes. Hopefully I can bang them on some rocks and have some fish try to take them away from me!!!!

Possibly someone(slip) who could help you make a display board cabnet hinged to open to display and close to protect while moving between shows.
Like a four by four foot sheet of plywood with a lip built around it hinged to another four by four foot sheet of plywood with a lip around it and when the two pieces are open they stand up and when closed makes a box like four feet by four feet by like six inches (Each display board would be four by four feet with a three inch strip around it. (I could sketch the form if you can't understand me but Slip can probably see what I am saying and there are others out there as well.
You will then be able to screw each plug into place on the board as a permanent display piece.
I can't help by building a plug but I had the thought for the display and offer it in good faith.

Thanks for your input on that Noreaster.
I have been working toward a display case much like the dimensions you had described, but more of a glass door enclosure type case.
I'm looking toward this design because I want to be able to also protect the Plugs that go into it.
This is especially the case when displaying some of the amazing paint work on some of these plugs of those like the ones that are made by Bernzy and others!...
Some of the craftsmanship I have seen out there is amazing, and I want to be careful to feature these plugs in a way that will be best for all to be able to see while protecting the worksmanship put in by those sending them in...

Thanks waterfordstriper for your needlefish entry!... nice work!
IT"S CRUNCH TIME!!!
This Project will make it's debut this weekend thanks to those of you out there who have been amazing in your support of this!
For those who have sent a plug in but didn't include any information...
Please send in a brief bio about yourself, and include how long you have been building your own, so that I can add it to the book that will accompany this display... PM me as soon as you can!
This project is still young in it's inception, and it will continually grow and improve as others step up to the plate...
I hope to see many of you there on Saturday & Sunday who have helped to bring this to fruition!...
I also hope to meet others who are going to come on board by donating one of their signature creations with a brief bio about themselves!...
Thanks again to all who have been in support of this project!
It's a great testimony to the Spirit of this site!...

Sounds great Guys!... Thank you so much!
In addition to trying to bring in a signed creation from the many who have come on board with plug building lately, I am also looking for jointed creations to add to the ones sent in by Capesams and Flaptail... They are slated to go into a new case when I receive enough of them...
Anyone else out there interested in sending one in or bringing one for the MSBA Show?
Please PM me or feel free to drop by my booth at the show...

Sounds great Larry!...
The Plug Project will be on display at all of the venues I attend this year.
I'm hoping to hear from the many who have started building since the projects inception.
Thanks for posting this back up Slip!
