Apelco fishfinder

When I bought my old boat last summer it came with an Apelco XVC 8000 fishfinder with a bronze through hull transducer. Hull was leaking around the transducer so I pulled it and glassed the hole. Is it worth it to try to get it working again but shooting through the hull or with transom mount? Or save my pennies and buy new?

When you're splashing boat for test run in the srping find the flattest spot of the hull, put a small container of water so that there is no air at all in the container (or between container and hull) then place Xducer inside water and see if you have good signal.

MY guess is atleast 10 years old, maybe 15. Probably just answered my own question. Got to save to buy a new one.

Exactly what I was getting at.

A basic unit with transom mount transducer is pretty cheap.

Ask here if you want info on brands/options, that has been discussed on this board many times.

Good luck.
