MUNG

Is there any scientific explanation (or at least that the government will tell us) as to the casue and/or influences on the growth of Mung Weed? It seems every year it keeps getting worse and worse. Last year was the worst I can remember so far, probably just because I was down the Backside even more last year than any previuos year.
There were spans where it was absolutely unfishable from Wellfleet to the Hump at Race Point. In the afternoons when I would be out checkin the beaches, people would be walking through the parkin lots lookin like an extra from Swamp Thing they had so much mung stuck to them.
Is it the heat that effects it?
Does that ingeniuos sewage outflow pipe from Boston have any effect?
Will this super cold winter water temps have any effect?
