Angry Talk About Unfair ORV Permit Fee Price Hikes!!!

I called Race Point Ranger Station to double check some things and I happened to notice a huge discrepency in the price hikes from last year to this year! Self-contained permits went from $110.00 to $150.00......Annual ORV permits went from $65.00 to $100.00......here is the problem I have is that the 7-day ORV permits went from $40.00 to $45.00????? That is only an increase of $5.00?????? Seems to me that those should have been hiked quite a bit more than they were to keep everything in line. They should have been hiked to about $65-70.00 per week. Why should the "Annuals" and "Self-contained" pay most of the freight????? In my opinion, it is the folks who get the 7-day permits do most of the littering, and commit most of the violations and problems in general. Just my .02 cents!!!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

I hear that

Well said Bigfish, 99.9% of the annuals are just beach goers taking up some nice real estate. I'm all for a doubling in price for the weeklys.

Screw waders....got socks????

Have you seen what Nauset gets for an out of town self contained ORV permit?

Its a hell of a lot more than that.

Thats what I am talkin' about! I am not looking to screw anyone, but damn, seems to me I pay the $100.00 ORV permit fee like I paid the $65.00 fee the last two years and who will be hauling garbage off with them when they leave? I am talking about old tires, and crates, and cans and bottles and bags and Gawd knows what else! It won't be the weeklies! (and I am talking about crap that I did not bring on with me).

45 or 100 dollars doesn't change the way people behave, slobs are slobs. 45 for seven days , 100 for how many Days? still a bargain in my book. go turn some lures, you gonna need a bunch shortly

Well, P-town is by far the most bang for the buck, even at $100.
The weeklys could be double, and they would still sell plenty.
P-town is the last beach in the State to do the weekly ticket, Nauset has not had one in years.

Nauset is a lot more dough, but no limit on the stickers they sell, as opposed to P-town. They do have a day limit on vehicles, first come, first on, based on the status of the birds nests, and open areas on the beach.

Nauset WILL have another substantial increase next year, don't shoot me, I'm only the messenger. They have figured out an easy way to generate revenue, and they will push it to the max. Every year there is an increase in sticker sales, regardless of how much they charge. Them people with the new Escalades, Navigators, Land Rovers, Hummers, etc. do NOT care what the sticker price is, and there seems to be more of them, than the pick-up, camper, and Jeep mind-set.

Personally, I think the seashore should eliminate the weekly sticker, and have no limit on the stickers they sell, would eliminate the hyped up rush by us to get the annual sticker, and increase the revenue for them. Win/Win, I'd say. Unfortunately, they will not consider this option.

Bigfish, will I see you at the P-town, Nauset, or Sandy Neck clean-up this year?

I would say that I agree with you KarlF, sounds like a good thought but we know where they go to die! Yes you will probably see me at one of those events KarlF, gotta check the schedule, and as for you I.Fish.In.Vt....I just came in the door from turning my first, and also perfect needlefish plug!

I also must add that those Navigator, Escalade, Hummer folks....once they buy the annual ORV permit, they seem to very seldom use it anyway! Two or three times at most! Such a waste and all those others that if they had gotten one for the season would use it much more. (all the more reason to do away with the weekly and up the total number sold as you suggest KarlF).

Chris, they do enforce that for all self-contained (campah's), and all other vehicles between 11P.M. and 7A.M. at Nauset.

Thanks guys. Larry, Karl - this stickah this is getting waaaay out of control. If I lived up there it would be one thing...

Race point = $100+

Nauset going over $140?

$240+?

Lots of things you can do with that money!

When fishing and driving a sandy stretch of beach is what you love to do......what you going to do but pay it? I understand the ride from where you are to the Cape though.....the invitation is good for the season FWW, its sincere.

If the weekly's were less, then maybe the out of staters that come up here for like only 3 or 4 weeks would not be buying the annual. Then you would'nt have to rush down to get yours.

Sand Permits

The problem as I see it (as a multi-year permit owner), is that the price difference between the weekly and the yearly is to small.

Too many people are buying yearly permits (with a limited number available) and only use the beach a few times to sit on the beach, when we fishermen want to use the beach into late September and October.

I'd like to see a price range that would discourage occassional users from s#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g up all the yearlies, and let the fishermen have access to the beaches when the sunbathers have re-directed their Navigators and Hummers somewhere else.

fishermen passes

I like the idea of offer a special pass for "post season" (maybe after labor day) for those fishermen who can't get one of the coveted seasonals.

But a wider price gap between weekly and yearly would encourage a lot of "beach goers" to get weekly passes and save the annuals for those of us who fish the beaches all year long.

This might sound like heresy, but I'd like to see a big increase in annuals, if that's what it takes to save the annual permits for those who really use the beach.

Well I have thought about it real hard and I am out priced this year!! I have alot of things to do and I can use the money!!
I am one of them guys that buy a sticker every year for the last 5 and use it 6 to 10 times a year. Just to much for what I get out of it!!
I can't fish from shore any way! I necer get crap?? But i don't know how to use plugs and stuff. I did get 2 last year on eels but they were not keepers.
So have a good time out there guys!! Maybe next year for me?

Keeps out the riff-raff! I think my first sticker was 5 bucks, could go from Long Point to Nauset , if I dared. I noticed a lot of folks last year buying seasonals when what they really needed was weeklys. Maybe the hike will spend some sense into them.
