Looking to buy my last reel for the forseeable future (first child and first home both on the way <img src="/Images/biggrin.gif"><!--e7-->) I stopped by to see Mike at M&D Bait and Tackle <a href="http://www.capecodtackle.com" target="_blank"><!--autohttp-->http://www.capecodtackle.com</a><!--autohttp--> and purchased both a 6500CL Big Game and a 7000CL Big Game. My last presents to myself for a little while (other than a couple rods I am going to still build). Okay, almost last presents for myself. Very pleased with these reels and can't wait to try them out...

Get out at 3am Sunday morning (very tired), put on the 6500CL which I'd spooled up the night before, and casted eels for several hours. Distance felt good, reel was smooth and solid. Pretty impressed with the reel at this point. While casting into a sunrise that showed Tall Ships on the Horizon, I realized that when I ran the line trhough the guides, I had wrapped the line around the last section of rod between the last guide and the tip. After correcting that mistake, the casting was even better. Fine reel.

Salty, you've always said that I should try out the reel. Now I know why. Excellent.
