I saw it, failure with something mechanical on the bridge.State is trying to figure it out, and they are working on fixing the guys van.
Saw him interviewed, he's leary of using that bridge again, he said he really hopes they fix it. Last I saw, some engineer was saying there was some kind of ice damage to one of the motors? from the severe winter we had...

They interviewed him on WBZ radio yesterday morning. It was indeed a bridge malfunction. He was already on the steel deck when the bridge started to rise. Since the deck was wet, there was no way he would have been able to stop in time. He had no choice but to gun it and try and make it across.
His insurance company is now in negotiations with the State to re-coup the damages.

That draw bridge is the 2nd most used bridge in the country!!!
The bridge has two braking systems to keep the bridge closed when in the down position. both brakes broke, sending the bridge to a 90 degree position, the lights did not function and the gates did not close!!!!
The state is trying to say that a heavy truck went over the bridge and caused the melfunction. They are only guessing at this moment!!!
Shouldn't be name calling unless knowing the circumstances of the event!!!!
If he didn't keep going when the bridge at first opened it could have been much worst, would have flipped over backwards!!!!
People were not hurt and cars can always be replaced!!!
